Service Programs
Newspaper Readership Program
In the interest of keeping students informed on the world and national events, USG sponsors a Newspaper Readership Program that provides free copies of the New York Times and USA Today. The publications are available in the Student Union lobby.
Student Voucher Program Campus Event Ticket Discount
USG funds the Student Voucher Program with the Performing Arts Center in Rockwell Hall. This program takes $5.00 off the advertised student ticket price for campus sponsored PAC events not already funded by USG. If the original ticket price is $5.00 or less the cost is free to the student. Any student wishing to use the USG Voucher Program must present a valid Buffalo State College student ID card at the Rockwell Hall Box Office at least one day prior to the performance. The Voucher Program is limited to one ticket per valid ID card per event and is not valid on the day of the show.
Fitness Center
The Fitness Center in the athletic complex (below the Houston Gym) receives operating funds to keep access for student free-of-charge. The equipment in the facility was purchased by the college with a grant from USG.
Homecoming
USG supports the annual Homecoming Celebration each fall with events for all students and visitors to campus. USG and many of its member organizations participate in the Union Bash event each semester.
Copies & Printing
USG provides an annual grant to the Butler library to underwrite part the cost of operating the copiers and printers. Digital Printing (from computer files) in the Butler Library is kept at a 2-cents-per-page cost and Copies are only 5 cents per-page.
Students can have low-cost copies made at Press Services (which has a color copier) or the USG Office. The USG Office also offers a fax service.
New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG)
In 1973 students with a vision for a better New York and a better world decided to create the New York Public Interest Research Group. NYPIRG is New York State's largest student-directed consumer, environmental, and government reform organization. NYPIRG is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit group and has chapters at 20 college campuses across the state. Students work with a staff of professional organizers, researchers, and advocates to fight for lower tuition, a cleaner environment, consumer protection, student rights, and social justice.
