History
During the early 1970s, a group of Buffalo State students saw the need for an on-campus day-care facility for students with children. After several years of planning, fighting for funds, and at least one false start, a day-care facility was established on campus in 1975 for the children of students and faculty.
The Center and USG's Support
Today, USG supplies an annual grant to assist in the operation of the Buffalo State College Child Care Center. The Center, which is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, accepts children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years, and is designed to serve children of Buffalo State students and employees. In addition, children of other state employees, and community members, are accepted as space permits. A "Summer School Age Program" is also available for children between the ages of 5 - 10 years.
The convenience of the on-campus facility often provides parents opportunities to join their child for activities during the day - something welcomed and encouraged by the Center staff.
Registration
Contact the Center by phone or in person during operating hours for an application to register your child. Tuition is based on a sliding fee schedule which is based on total household income.
