USG SENATE MEETING

III.    President Espinosa Report:

A.      I would like to recognize Lt. Carey to give his report. Lt. Carey states the escort van scheduled has been adjusted to work with the NFTA. All officers have been trained on the AED defibrillators. Weather permitting the bike patrols will start up the beginning of April.

 

IV.     Treasurer Myers Report:

A.      Survey - I would appreciate if all the senators take the survey.

B.      AASO Grant - I will pass out their proposal for a grant.  AASO would like to host a month long series of workshops focusing on Hip Hop music. Nasir (guest speaker) will come in and speak regarding the Nas's story about Hip Hop. The total amount for this is $30,000. He has already collected $11,000 from a grant, $3,000 from SUB and $1,000 from RHA. The Budget Committee is proposing to give AASO $10,000 for this event. They will still need to get $5,000.  This event will be April 21st in Rockwell and they will be charging for this event.  It would be $5 for students, $10 for faculty and $15 for the general public. I will recognize Marcus Boatwright to answer any questions the senate may have. The Budget Committee would like to make a motion to approve AASO a grant of $10,000 to go towards Nas.  Vote is taken and passes 21 yeas, 0 nays and 3 abstentions.

C.      I would like to recognize Vice Treasurer Smith to talk about the Budget Packets.  Vice Treasurer Smith states that the proposed budgets will be going in the organization mailboxes.  If an organization has a problem with their budget they can schedule a brief hearing. The hearings will take place the week of April 4th.  The budget will be brought to the senate the week after for review. The senate will have a week to review it and then we will vote on it.

 

V.      Standing Committee Reports

A.  AVP Blake Academic Report: 
- My committee meeting for this week is cancelled.  
- USG Banquet is set for April 24th at the Hyatt.
- I plan on getting sweatshirts for the senators. Please write down your size on the sheet I am passing around.

B.      AVP Lafontaine Community Relations Report:
- Bowling is scheduled for after the meeting.
- I would like to recognize Senator Sabbs to give a committee report.
- Committee meeting for this Friday is cancelled.
- I would like to thank everyone who participated with Union Bash.

C.      AVP Buckley Sports & Rec Report:
- Questions & Comments

D.      AVP Pastwik Student Life Report:
- Committee meeting for Thursday is cancelled.  If you have any thoughts or concerns please put them in my mailbox.
- I need to verify who went to see Heidi Chronicles.

E.      Senator Pro Tem Stankevich Report:
- Liaison Reports only 5 people have handed them in.

 

VI.     Constituents Questions/Announcements

A.      President Espinosa announces on April 21st MTV will be on campus for Campus Invasion from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm.

B.      Student at Large Groover announces that on April 29th AASO will have their Ball.

C.      Senator St. Rose announces on April 15th & 16th at 8:00 pm in Upton Hall is the Dance Ensemble.

D.      Treasurer Myers states that if you're interested in modeling for Daemen College Step Team please see me. 

E.      Hector Gil thanks the E-Board and everyone else who participated with Union Bash. There is a "meet the candidates program" scheduled for Thursday during Bengal Pause in the Cookery.

F.      Josh from NYPIRG is recognized to give an update.
