III.    President Espinosa Report:

        A. Does anyone have any questions or comments for EVP Sylvester or me?

 

IV.     Treasurer Myers Report:

A.      The Senate will receive the budget packets at the April 19th meeting. We will vote on the budget April 26th.  If you have questions regarding the Budget please see me before the April 26th.

B.      The Budget Committee is looking into a trip to Darien Lake. Vice Treasurer Smith is recognized to talk about Paintball. 

C.      UB Spring Fest - I spoke to the president and we are looking into purchasing 100 tickets for their Spring Fest.  They in return might purchase tickets for our Spring Fest.  As of today nothing is confirmed.

 

President Espinosa motions to suspend the rules.  Vote is taken and passes unanimously.

 

V.      Standing Committee Reports

A.  AVP Lafontaine Community Relations Report: 
             - Bowling wrap-up.

B.  AVP Buckley Sports & Rec Report:
     - Buffalo Bison Game is scheduled for Friday April 22nd.  The bus will be leaving Grover Cleveland at 5:30 pm.  The tickets are $10 which includes your ticket, bus ride, and free food.
- I will pass around a sign up sheet for the USG Paintball.  The two tentative dates are April 30th or May 1st.  Please put your name down on the date that is best for you.

C.      AVP Pastwik Student Life Report:
- There is a Hip Hop Night in the Cookery on Thursday April 7th at 6:30 pm. I have some flyers if you would like to take some to hang up around campus.

D.      Rules Chair Crowley Report:
-  AEL is up to be re-recognized.  I would like to recognize AEL to answer any questions that the Senate may have. Floor is open for questions. Senator Pro Tem Levin-Stankevich called to question.  Vote is taken and passes 21 yeas, 0 nays and 1 abstention.  Rules Committee would like to make a motion to re-recognize AEL.  Vote is taken and passes 22 yeas, 0 nays and 0 abstentions.

E.      Senator Pro Tem Levin-Stankevich Report:
- Liaison Reports - out of 24 I have received 9 back.  Please get these back to me as soon as possible.

F.      AVP Blake Academic Report:
- I will be ordering fleece's instead of sweatshirts.  Please write down the size you will need on the sheet I am passing around. They are men sizes.
- Nominations - we need to vote on the banquet awards. I will be passing out  a sheet with the nominee's please check the person you are voting for. President Espinosa announces the Senator of the Month which is Dewanda Sabbs. President Espinosa reviews the awards and the nominees.
- Professor Evaluation - please take some evaluations to your class and see if you can get them filled out.  These are due back to me in 2 weeks.

VIII.   Constituents Questions/Announcements

A.      President Espinosa announces April 15th, 16th and 17th is Student Assembly.  We are looking for 3 delegates to attend this conference which is being held in Rochester.

B.      Senator Turton states that you shouldn't forget to vote to keep NYPIRG on campus.

C.      Senator at Large Groover states that RHA & AASO is having a 3 on 3 basketball tournament.  This will be on April 23rd 6:00 pm - 12:00am in Houston Gym.  Tickets are $10 per team.

D.      Hector Gil is recognized to talk about the election process. Hector explains how the write-in process works.

E.      AVP Buckley announces Service Day on April 23rd.

F.      Student at Large Marshall announces that next week starts CSO's Caribbean week.

G.      EVP Sylvester announces a ice cream social this Friday 10:00 pm - 2:00 am. Please bring a canned good for the Red Cross.

H.      Senator Pro Tem Levin-Stankevich announces Take Back the Night on April 14th. SAC is having a kid's night out on the 20th. There is a Food Service Committee meeting on the 20th.

I.      Senator Sabbs announces this Thursday at the Weigal Health Center there will be free testing for aids.

J.      Treasurer Myers would like to meet with his budget committee after the meeting.

K.      Josh is recognized to give an update.  Josh announces that this Friday the first time in 21 years the budget was passed on time.  The referendum question in regards to NYPIRG.  NYPIRG is not supposed to be voted on until spring 2007.  At this time the 2 year mandatory referendum cycle should begin. Voting this year is a violation on NYPIRG and USG's contract.
