SENATE MEETING MINUTES
29th LEGISLATURE
MARCH 14, 2006
I. Call to Order

- President Levin-Stankevich adds Elections.
- AVP Buckley adds Texas Hold'em.
III. President Levin-Stankevich Report:
A. Senate Calendar - there are 4 senate meetings left. I will briefly tell you what will be discussed at these meeting:
1) March 28th - might be debating the increase2) April 4th -transition training packets.
3) April 11th - budget and house rules for the budget.
4) April 18th - budget will be voted on.
5) April 25th - unofficial meeting.
B. SUNY Day Review - Dawn, Ben and I Lobbied with the Senators. The technology building and stadium were discussed and funded.
C. Election - we need senators for next year. If you are interested or know of anyone who might be you can still be a write in.
IV. EVP Norman Report:
A. The Springfest Committee needs helpers for the show. Tickets will be going on sale Monday March 27th.
Treasurer Palka makes a motion to suspend the rules and go into Old Business and then to return to the original order. Senator Nguyen 2nd. Vote is taken and passes 8 yeas, 3 nays and 4 abstentions.
V. Old Business
A. Spirit is recognized to discuss their trip to New York City.
VI. Treasurer Palka Report:
A. Vice Treasurer Forsythe states that the Budget Committee would like to make a motion to approve a line item change for WBNY. WBNY would like to move $2,000 from their promotion line to their engineering line. Floor is open for discussion. Vote is taken and passes 13 yeas, 1 nay and 1 abstention.
B. Vice Treasurer Forsythe states that the Budget Committee would like to make a motion to approve a line item change for NSBE. NSBE would like to move $1,440 from their conference line to their transportation line. Floor is open for discussion. Vote is taken and passes 15yeas, 0 nays and 0 abstentions.
C. Budget - the proposed packets have been put in the organization mail boxes. If an organization would like to contest their budget there is sign up sheet on Cindy's desk for a hearing.
VII. Standing Committee Reports
A. AVP Brady Academic Report:
- I will be passing around a sheet with your name on it please write
down your size.
- Survey for Awards - in your constitution you will find a page that
lists the different awards given at the USG banquet. Please put
in my mail box the person you are nominating for each award.
B. AVP LaFontaine Community
Relations Report:
- Bengal 5K is Saturday March 25th if you are interested please let
me know.
- Service Day is Saturday April 22nd. I am looking for
volunteers.
- Open House is scheduled for April 8th from 10:30 am - 1:00 pm in
the Houston Gym.
- Tabling is every Wednesday.
C. AVP Buckley Sports & Recreation Report:
- On March 31st Texas Hold'em will be held at 7:00 pm in the Game
Room.
D. AVP Clarke Student Life
Report:
- Calana Festival has been rescheduled to April 4th.
- NFTA meeting - the committee has decided to have your pictures put
on your bus passes.
E. Rules Chair Ammirato Report:
- Re-recognition update - there are still 12 organizations out of 41
that still need to get re-recognized and I am waiting for them to get
back to me.
F. Senator Pro Tem Groover Report: given by EVP Norman
A. Liaison Report - please hand in your reports if you haven't already.
VIII. New Business - None
IX. Constituents Questions/Announcements
A. AVP LaFontaine announces Thursday during Bengal Pause the Forensic Club is having a special meeting.
B. AASO Karaoke is on March 15th in the Cookery at 7:00 pm.
C. Fashion Association is having a fashion show on March 30th in the Assembly Hall.
D. Anne from NYPIRG will give us an update.
