C. Day Care Report - Dan the Day Care Director is here to give an update. EVP Brady asks if there are any objections to recognize Dan. There are no objections. Dan states that the Day Care Center has been on campus for 32 years at different locations. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. In the summer we go up to age 12 and in the winter we go up to age 5. We have 15 full time staff and about 40 students working for us. We have been working on getting more students children in the Day Care Center. In the fall semester we had 33 spots open and out of these spots 31 were student’s children. Also, out of these 31 children 29 of their parents are under graduates. Dan thanks USG for their continuing support. President St. Rose states that he is excited and proud on what the Day Care has done. I would also like to thank AVP Jueckstock for all her hard work with the Day Care Center.
IV. Rules & Regulations Greco Report:
A. The Rules & Regulations Committee would like to make a motion to recognize the Muslim Student Organization (MSA) as a USG recognized organization. Floor is open for debate. AVP Dapaah states that not long ago there was a MSA organization and they fell out of existence. MSA representative Nese Yazicilar states that they graduated and left no transition. We now have 30 members + and we are also connected to UB’s MSA and they have 300 members. EVP Brady states if there are no more questions we will go into vote. Vote is taken and passes unanimously.
V. President St. Rose Report:
A. Speaker Series - the Executive Council had a meeting with the President and Vice President. EVP Brady rules President St. Rose out of order because his cell phone is ringing. President St. Rose states that this year we want to bring in Toni Morrison she is the Pulitzer surprise winner in our century. A. AVP Enderton Academic Report:
- Study Day is December 7th. We are going to make snack bags from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and study packs. The study packs will consist of index cards and hi-lighters. There is a meeting next Tuesday in the Senate Chambers at 5:00 pm to assemble the bags please come and help.
B. AVP Walters Community Affairs Report:
- Adopt a Highway - the Community Affairs Committee thought this would be a good thing to have USG’s name on. The event usually happens in March or April. I am looking to see how many people would be interested in helping. Please raise your hand if you would like to help out and this will also be open to the public.
- I met with Jerry Boyes about one issue that was brought up to me about the pool hours. He looked at the surveys that were done over time and he said that there were only 2 hours a week that the pool was closed and people wanted it open. He will be coming out with a new survey with the time slots for students to fill out. Another concern that was brought up to me was that the Cross Country team didn’t have transportation to and from an event. Buffalo State College athletic teams are supposed to be transported to and from the airport because of liability issues.
