Using WinSCP to transfer files to the IPA server

Step 1: Get the WinSCP client from our website, by clicking here.

Step 2: Connect to the IPA server

  1. Open WinSCP

  1. Enter your username and password.
    1. You will be prompted about the server key (example below). This is merely an informative message, so select "Yes" to continue.

  1. After you have successfuly logged in, you will see the explorer window.

  1. Next, you will see the “public_html” folder, which is where all your web documents are hosted from. Double click on the public_html folder to enter it, then simply drag and drop files from your PC (left pane) to the public_html folder (right pane). You should see a window similar to the one below:

  1. After the transfer completes you are done. You can then view your files by browsing to http://ipa.buffalostate.edu/~your_user_name/file_name
