Microsoft Word French 101Fully-installed versions of Microsoft Word can support languages other than English. The Review » Proofing (MS Word 2007)/Tools » Language (MS Word 97/2003) menu is an invaluable tool to foreign language students. By selecting Set Language (MS Word 2007)/Set Language... (MS Word 97/2003) from this menu, you can set the language/dialect of the the highlighted text. MS Word's French dialects include Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, Congo (DRC), Côte d'Ivoire, France, Haiti, Luxembourg, Mali, Monaco, Morocco, Reunion, Senegal, Switzerland, and the West Indies. By selecting Translate (MS Word 2007)/Translate... (MS Word 97/2003) from this menu, you can translate the highlighted text from the current language/dialect to another. Be warned that auto-translators are usually not very accurate and therefore are not recommended for quick translation of important documents. By selecting Thesaurus (MS Word 2007)/Thesaurus... (MS Word 97/2003) from this menu, you can look up synonyms for highlighted words or phrases in the set language/dialect. This applies to all installed languages/dialects, however, auto-thesauruses may not always give you the synonyms you want, so only use this if you know the meaning of the synonyms it suggests.
