USG presents Soul Singer Raheem DeVaughn
Rockwell Hall will be the site of USG's first concert event of the year (cosponsored with Verizon Wireless and the Performing Arts Center). The show on Wednesday, October 22 features Raheem DeVaughn who is touring in support of his second album, Love Behind the Melody. Show time is 8PM. Student tickets are on sale now at the Rockwell Hall box office. Ticket price is $5.00 and there is a 2 ticket limit per student ID.
USG presents Dr. Cornel West in November
The first event in the USG Distinguished Speaker Series will feature scholar and civil rights activist Dr. Cornel West. Dr. West has been a champion for racial justice since childhood. His writing, speaking, and teaching weave together the traditions of the black Baptist Church, progressive politics, and jazz. He will speak in the Performing Arts center in Rockwell Hall at 7PM on Thursday, November 6. Buffalo State Student Tickets for this event will go on sale at the Rockwell Hall Box Office on October 15 for $5 each with a 2-ticket per ID limit. General admission tickets will be available for $20 beginning October 23.

Students also have the opportunity to pose a question for Dr. West. E-mail your question to usgactivities@buffalostate.edu by November 4 (please use your student e-mail and put "Cornel West" in the subject line). Suitable questions will be put on cards for Dr. West to consider. If you send in a question you also have a chance in a drawing for an opportunity to meet Dr. West after the program.
Johnson, Hamilton and Hemingway Appointed to USG Positions
The appointed positions in the 2008-2009 USG Student Government have been filled. Rohan Johnson is the Vice Treasurer, Darryl Hamilton is the Rules & Regulations Chair, and Sam Hemingway will serve as Senator Pro-Tem.
