The USG Budget
The United Students Government operates with a budget of over a million-and-a-half dollars. The funds are collected by Buffalo State College from undergraduate students as the mandatory student activity fee. The funds are then turned over to USG, an independent corporation operating under State University of New York rules and guidlines.

Funds for the contracted services - NFTA Transit Pass, Child Care Center and NYPIRG - are forwarded to those entities. All or the other expenditures and financial dealings of USG and member oranizations are done through accounts in the USG Business Office.

APPLYING FOR FUNDS
Once a year, from mid-February to late March, the USG Budget Committee considers budget requests from recognized student organizations. Any organization that was officially recognized by the USG Senate as of the previous November 15 is eligible to apply for a budget allocation. Unrecognized groups or those recognized after the November deadline are not considered. Application packets are distributed to the treasurers of eligible organizations at a treasurers meeting near the beginning of the spring semester.

The allocations are made by the budget committee and approved by the USG Senate. The budget takes effect on June 1, staying open until the following May 31.

Student Organizations that are officialy recognized by USG but do not have a budget can apply for funding on an individual event basis from the Academic Assembly line, an account that has been set aside for that purpose. Student representatives from those organizations should visit the USG Business Office for more information on this sort of funding.

FOR A COPY OF THE BUDGET...
A copy of the current budget with individual organization budgets and complete line-item breakdowns is available on request to any registered Buffalo State undergraduate student. The copies are available in the USG Business Office, Student Union 416, weekdays, 8:30AM to 4PM.
